After two previous attempts at learning how to pitch at these startup competitions, Opti-fold finally got recognized by winning the 3rd prize award at the upscale 2017 HKCBA National Pitch Competition in Vancouver, BC. Despite Opti-fold's early R&D stage (research & development), the team was still able to qualify to compete with other more mature startups in the Seedstars Seoul and A Big Think event in Seoul, South Korea. But, when it came to competing in front of judges, Ray was still developing his presentation.
The audience in Vancouver consisted of business people who had an interest in startup companies that bridged the connection between Hong Kong and Canada, hence the name HKCBA (Hong Kong-Canada Business Association).
Six teams were selected nationwide in Canada to participate in the competition. Of the six, only three would win a prize.
